Venus Davis is a Corporate Wellness Coach and ACE Certified Personal Trainer who works with both large groups and individuals. At the The strong academy, In Washington, DC, "Coach VE" helps to train the body and stabilize the mind by providing them with the tools and knowledge that is necessary to obtain their newly gained power.

Before Venus worked in the fitness, she lived in New York City and juggled to have a company job, to go to school, to educate a son as a young single mother and to get ready with the stress of being separated from her family. The move to DC to be near her family was part of her motivation to start your fitness trip. After Venus had experienced the therapeutic thrill of “throwing weight around”, she found personal peace, fulfillment and a new attitude to life. Fitness became more than a personal trip because she included her son and other family members who all had the mission to improve their general well -being.

So a career as a coach VE started.

What Venus loves most about her career in fitness is that she never ends because there is always room for growth and improvement. She decided to become Ace Certified Personal Trainer because ACE embodies this idea. "With ACE," she says, "the development has not yet been completed. If other programs only encourage you to expand your knowledge, she motivates ACE. It is a completely different approach for further training, in which I can always easily participate. As I would like to say:" ACE became important as soon as I noticed my swing. "

In addition to her ACE certification, Venus is a Level 1 Coach with USA Weightlifting, certified in Functional Movement and Fitness Nutrition, and a Health Coach at Georgetown University.

Venus spoke to ACE about her fitness journey and her approach to making people stronger, healthier and happier.

When you became ACE certified, do you remember what it was like?

When I was certified, it was an astonishing moment. I was just in the process of switching my career from the project manager to wellness and receiving my certification from ACE was the first step. So it was a big moment.

Do you remember why you chose ACE?

Yes, I remember why I chose ACE. I chose ACE because when I spoke to the trainers before enrolling in my program, I needed to make sure I was doing a program that was a good fit for my time. My time was very short. I had to make sure I had enough study time and the trainers were great at explaining to me how much time per week I would need to study, how much time I would need to review, the whole nine. This has created a really great platform for me to manage my time and expectations of the learning materials.

So who are the main clients you work with?

I work with many career professionals. I also work with a lot of young professionals – a lot of young students starting their roles at their companies are in DC. Their companies also have a lot of senior management, so their stress levels may vary depending on where they are in their career.

Which clients do you enjoy working with the most? Who are your favorite customers?

My favorite customers are people who want to become strong. I have a passion for strength training and condition and like a customer who is mainly motivated. They come in motivated and are enthusiastic about what they can do. You read my style and found that you are interested. We will have a good bond.

Would you say you have a passion for it?

Yes, I would definitely say I have a passion for strength training. Also the conditioning. I like to help women and men combat the office environment that many people have, you know, that's their daily lifestyle in the District of Columbia. So helping them get through those long hours in front of a computer or even on flights, and strengthening their bodies, especially their cores, a lot of lower back issues, and helping them get through that - and that with their very busy work schedules - is a passion of mine.

Do you have a “mission” if you could put it into words?

So my mission is "to train for life". And again that speaks of helping you to reconcile your lifestyle. They train for everything that comes in their way, whether it is a busy job, whether it is children, whether it is all of this - my mission is to help them get through this process in a healthy way.

Are there any things from ACE that were really helpful when working with these customers?

Yes, I can imagine two things that really helped me work with my customers through ACE. One of them is the change in behavior, and this is because I do not necessarily use the terminology "behavioral change" with my customers, but recognize the characteristics of them that have to change different habits in their lifestyle. Since they are very busy, most of them do not eat properly, most have a very large social life and try to help them understand the changes they have to make, and the habits they will create. And behind the scenes, the use of the term "behavioral change" in my head is a long way.

The other would be sports science to know the anatomy. I remember studying in the materials. The anatomy was huge, so understanding the anatomy is a really large part of it. I have a lot of customers who say: "What will that do for me?" And I say: "Well, do you know what? You have to make these lats really strong because you will pick up your suitcase a lot." Or "You really have to make sure that your nuclear power is together because you." sit for a long time during the day. “Different things like that. The anatomical aspect of the materials was enormous for me in order to be able to speak to my customers.

Did you find a certain group of customers challenging?

My challenge – the most challenging clients are the ones who may have been sedentary for a while. They come in and they want - they've seen something, they've read something, they know they need to make a health change. Maybe it's some hereditary health problems that they just realized and want to change, or they just realized they're overweight or what have you and suddenly they want to make a change. Well, they don't have the right tools in their toolkits to make these changes. So my job is to make sure we do this in a way that works for them and their lifestyle. That would be my biggest thing with them. Just make sure we add things proportionally and appropriately into their toolkits to make them better.

Do you have customers who fall into the special population?

Yes, I have clients who fall under the special population. Actually, I have a few clients who are recovering from cancer and see how they stop coming to me with the goal of getting stronger and then learn that now they're fighting cancer until they come back after fighting that and, you know, I have to work really hard to get my strength back. It's a process, and I appreciate ACE for not only providing the basic parts of my training toolkit, but also other opportunities like the “Cancer Exercise Specialist” to address clients with these needs.

If you could give yourself advice before starting college, what would you tell yourself?

If I could give myself one piece of advice when it comes to studying for my ACE exam it would be time management, just because I know how busy I am and I know a lot of other people are too. And just remember the purpose behind it, you know? There will be nights when studying is long. There will be nights where you watch videos and read and come back to it, but going back to the purpose and your passion and why you're actually doing it - I think that was a big piece of pushing through for me. So remember why you're doing it, remember why your certification is so important, and jump back into the materials and just knock it out
