Viktoria Grygorian's path to becoming an IFBB professional began with chickenpox
Viktoria Grygorian is a pretty accomplished athlete and businesswoman. The doctor and Ukrainian native came to the United States, served in the National Guard, became an IFBB Pro in the Figure Division and is an A Competition organizer with her husband Tony Roberts. The shows they promote include the NPC Armed Forces Nationals, the Ben Weider Natural Show and more. Grygorian was recently a guest on Femme Flex Friday and she told co-host Alina Popa that all of this was made possible in the most unlikely way - by contracting chickenpox.
“In 2006, in addition to my full-time (career) as a doctor, I was working as a psychologist in a children's orphanage and at that time I came down with chickenpox,” Grygorian said. "At the same time, I was going through a difficult relationship situation, and I think all of that along with the fever, the emotions, everything made me think about what I was doing with my life."
Not only has Viktoria Grygorian competed and earned her professional card, but she also did it on the Olympic stage as a participant in the Amateur Olympia in 2020. She admitted to being scared at the thought of competing on that stage, but Roberts, who is also a dispatcher, pushed and supported her to achieve her goal.
“He was a sergeant in the Army,” she explained as she described his methods of helping her. "That's why we communicate so well. We have the same values, the same way of thinking and it doesn't even feel like we come from different countries."
While she is happy and successful in America, her heart still clearly goes out to those in her struggling homeland Crisis against the Russian invasion. She has found a way to support her home country by raising money and donating it directly to the people who need it.
“My sister and I started collecting donations and the way we distribute the donations is to send them directly to the people who need them there,” she said. “We have family, friends and people from church who we can transfer the money to and they buy food to deliver to the people and elderly who are left behind.”
