Standing on the Olympic stage represents the best of the best in bodybuilding. If you can say you are an Olympic competitor, you have achieved success, but athletes are always striving to get better. Some athletes have the potential and ability to become the elite of the elite, the top ten.
Four of these bodybuilders are James Hollingshead, Steve Kuclo, Antoine Vaillant and Iain Valliere. They are obviously far from failing, but they have the potential to do better and achieve more. The hosts of Prime Time Muscle break down these four men's chances of finishing in the top 10 at the 2023 Olympics.
Valliere had twice finished seventh on bodybuilding's biggest stage, but in 2022 he was 11th.
"Iain Valliere is a great bodybuilder. He has won many pro shows. He will go down in history as one of the greatest Canadian bodybuilders of all time," said Terrick El Guindy. However, the IFBB Pro League judge also criticized Valliere's physique based on his performance at the 2022 Olympics.
"Was this performance his best performance? No. It wasn't a good performance. He'll be the first to tell you. The biggest problem here is his back, rear double biceps and rear lat spread."
As for Hollingshead, he had placed 13th at the Olympics in 2021, but failed to crack the top 15 in 2022. Cormier shared his opinion on why Hollingshead didn't do well, but remained optimistic about his future.
“I really think he can improve from here too,” he told Tim Wilkins. "Pull the abs, the upper back, those diamond-shaped areas up. Bring the lower back up, and the lats could be a little thicker there."
The trio also broke down the strengths and needs of Vaillant and Kuclo in this episode. You can hear what they have to say by watching the full episode of PTM on the Olympia TV YouTube channel. Make sure you subscribe so you can watch new episodes every week
