Scotty James isn't an elder statesman at 28, but typically athletes in his field are getting things ready for their retirement. At just 15 years old, James made his Olympic debut, becoming the youngest Australian to compete in the Winter Games.

Since that time, he has dominated the halfpipe for almost a decade and has the hardware and accolades to do it: two-time Olympic medalist, seven-time X Games medalist, three-time world champion and US Open winner.

Thanks in large part to James' early focus on training, recovery and nutrition, he is still capable of outperforming his younger rivals. And there is no thought of a slowdown any time soon. Before he competes in the X Games Aspen SuperPipe on ESPN Friday night, James spoke with M&F about some of his necessities for competition and training - and surviving on fresh fruit.
