Pilates is for men, and one London-based studio is making a compelling case for any doubters.

Exhale Pilates London, a studio that teaches classical Pilates in Primrose Hill and North Finchley, caused a stir with a video on its Instagram profile. It's a compilation of men working out in the Pilates studio called "Men of Exhale."

Between the clips of professional boxer Derek Chisora, actor Giancarlo Esposito and reality TV star Dan Osborne is probably the most famous face in the video: Harry Styles.

Harry Styles has been serious about going to therapy, and it's a pretty big deal

Wearing a light green sweatshirt, matching green shorts, white socks and a baseball cap, Styles sits on a box on a Pilates reformer. His toes are under a strap and he holds holding a bar above his head with both hands, rotating from right to center as he rises to an upright position before rotating to the left to lie down again.

Commenters were quick to call out Styles' brief but memorable appearance in the video. "Y'all don't drop Harry in the middle of this role," one person wrote. "I'll subscribe when you have more videos of Harry," said another.

Styles' clip has also made its way to TikTok, where more fans are enjoying the visuals of the singer working on his core.

This isn't the first time news of Styles doing the traditional exercise has made headlines. Vogue reported that Styles practices Pilates in its 2020 cover story (yes, the one where he broke gender norms by posing in a skirt and dress). “I have very tight hamstrings – I’m trying to open them up,” he said at the time.

He was also spotted visiting a London Exhale Pilates studio in 2016, according to Yahoo News and Teen Vogue. Previously, in 2012, the then One Direction band member shared that he had started doing Pilates to work on his posture. “I have bad posture and I was told to take Pilates once a week,” he said, the Independent reported.

Styles has been practicing classical Pilates with Gaby Noble, a Pilates instructor and founder of Exhale Pilates London, since 2016, she tells Shape. However, this is the first time she has shared content with him on the brand's social media.

“He was very regular in London, as they say [Pilates] supported him with his grueling workload and training schedule," says Noble. "Exhale Pilates London is a classic Pilates studio, so he trained not only on the reformer, but on all the machines, including the Wunda Chair, Cadillac and other machines not as common today."

Styles isn't the only celebrity to share his love of the exercise method. Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Ashley Park are just some of the A-listers known to take Pilates.

Mat Pilates vs. Reformer Pilates: Which is Better?

So what makes Pilates such a great workout? While professionals make it look easy, Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise that offers serious benefits.

Developed by Joseph Hubertus Pilates in the 1920s (originally for physical rehab), it involves movements performed on a mat or on a reformer machine that stretch, lengthen and balance the body, Shape previously reported. Think plank positions, abs Exercises, leg circles and glute bridges.

By doing Pilates regularly, you can improve your posture, increase your flexibility, strengthen your joints, and even increase your cardiorespiratory fitness.
