ICYMI, Shania Twain went topless for single art earlier this year paired with her latest hit "Waking Up Dreaming." The 57-year-old singer posed in a cowboy hat, pink boots and a white shirt tied around her waist to promote her single, which was released in September 2022 ahead of her next album in February 2023.
"This is me expressing my truth," she recently told People about the decision to be photographed topless. "I'm comfortable in my own skin, and this is my way of sharing that confidence," the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" singer said, adding, "The best fashion is confidence."
Twain doesn't seem to embrace stereotypes about what is and isn't acceptable for women as they get older. "I'm a woman in my late 50s and I don't need to hide behind clothes," she continued. "I can't tell you how good it feels to do nude shoots. I just wasn't ashamed of my new body, you know, as a woman well into menopause. I'm not even emotional about it; I'm just comfortable with it. It's really liberating."

The "Any Man of Mine" singer has long been confident about showing off her body. "From the very beginning - the very first video - I took off the bra," she said in the People interview. Of course, she was referencing her 1993 music video for "What Made You Say That," which featured Twain dancing and singing on the beach in black flowy pants and a matching black crop top and a skin-tight white dress.

“But I was a lot more solid back then,” Twain said. "As I got older, I started to feel a different pressure: 'Well, your breasts aren't as perky as they used to be. Your skin isn't as tight as it used to be. Maybe you should start covering them a little more.'"
Don't worry, Twain learned to tune out this kind of negative self-talk. "I hit this wall and thought, 'Whoa, my confidence is going down,'" she said. "My courage is failing. Why am I allowing this? Frig this. I'm not stepping back, 30-year-old self, to my menopausal body," she continued. "I won't be shy. I want to be brave, and I want to share that courage in the artwork I direct."
Melanie Lynskey got honest about her "long journey" to body acceptance
Your message to other people who are working on accepting their bodies exactly as they are? "I want other women who are aging, or any women... even when you're 12 and you're developing, you shouldn't feel like you have to hide behind your fear or your confident shield," she told People. “But you have to do it in your own sense of what is right and good and safe for you.”
